It was eviction time on M-Net’s Big Brother All Stars for the first time on Sunday (July 25 at 20:00) – but true to form, Big Brother had a twist for the housemates as two left the house – but then went right back! Kaone and Tatiana experienced an emotional rollercoaster ride as they were plucked from the house after just one week and spent some time on stage with IK, before Big Brother sent them back to their relieved housemates.
The show kicked off with a blistering performance by Nigerian star Mayé Hunta, who sang African Star – the new Big Brother All Stars song. IK then gave viewers the low-down on what’s been happening in the house this week – and what a first week it’s been.
A spectacular launch show, laughing, singing, dancing, nominations, arguing, losing their first task and going on strike – the All Stars are making this season of Big Brother an unforgettable one! Soweto dance group Amapantsula took to the stage next before IK gave viewers a demonstration of the ‘lie detector’ which Big Brother will use to help determine whether the housemates are being truthful or not, especially useful given the housemates are tasked with discovering each others ‘secrets’ this season.
IK then took viewers into the house to break the news of the first eviction to the housemates. Slowly, he reeled off a list of names, telling each of them that they were safe. Sheila, Hannington, Jen, Yacob, Code, Lerato, Mwisho, Sammi, Paloma and Meryl all discovered that they would stay in the house for another week. With 10 housemates safe, Tatiana, Kaone, Munya and Uti found themselves in the firing line.
After a dramatic pause, IK announced that the first housemate to leave the Big Brother All Stars house would be Botswana’s Kaone. After sharing his goodbyes with his All Star housemates, K-1 left the house and joined IK on stage. He told the continent that he had no idea why he was the first person out of the house and answered IK’s question about whether he would have done anything differently: “Nah – I’m a consistent person!” he said.
