SuperSport is thrilled to announce that it has secured broadcast rights to the Barclays Premier League for the next three seasons.
The rights include every country in sub-Saharan Africa, excluding Nigeria.
Promoted as “The Greatest Show on Earth”, the Barclays Premier League is the biggest continuous annual sporting event in the world, followed by more than 2.5 billion fans and broadcast to more than 500 million homes.
“We are delighted to extend our partnership,” said Imtiaz Patel, Chief Executive Officer of SuperSport International. “This ensures we continue to bring the very best of world football to our viewers, who have a great appetite for the Premier League.”
Premier League Chief Executive, Richard Scudamore, added, “We are extremely pleased to extend our partnership with SuperSport and are entirely confident that they will continue to deliver a premium product that will showcase the Barclays Premier League to our many fans in the region.”
All 380 matches will be broadcast, while the arrangement includes mobile and internet rights. In addition, SuperSport will be broadcasting the African Cup of Nations in January, to be followed in June 2010 by the Fifa World Cup.
The Barclays Premier League will be available on the DStv platform.
