M-NET’S NAIJA SINGS - TOP 10 SHINE!

Goodness
Covenant.

On Saturday evening August 22, DStv audiences watching M-Net’s hot music series NAIJA SINGS were entertained as the series hit the TOP 10 stage in spectacular fashion. And in true reality TV style, the show opened with a surprise as contestant Goodness Nnorom bowed out of the show, citing personal reasons for being unable to continue in the series. It was bad news for Goodness fans, but good news for the remaining competitors because it meant that this week only one contestant would be eliminated instead of the usual two people. After Goodness’ departure was announced, it was time to reveal the name of next competitor to be eliminated from NAIJA SINGS. This time, it was Covenant Godwin who received the fewest viewer votes. The clearly shocked contestant told series host Olisa Adibua that he felt “blank”. Meanwhile, as Goodness and Covenant headed out of the series, the remaining contestants got set to for the all important TOP 10 concert! With the musical theme for Saturday’s show honouring the late King Of Pop Michael Jackson, the scene was set for 10 electrifying performances. Adding to the excitement was the NAIJA SINGS band, live on stage under the leadership of Musical Director Kehinde Dacosta Lawrence. First up was Victor from Calabar, who said it was important to choose the right song, something you feel comfortable with and will impress the audience. Kehinde said Victor just needed to be pointed in the right direction to live out his potential. Victor chose the catchy Starting Something and the fans in the audience thought it was “exciting and energetic”. Tarila was up next and said it was important to choose a song that would bring out the quality of his voice. Kehinde said Tarila has a beautiful voice and that he improves every week. Tarila sang the emotional You’re Not Alone and one particularly enhusiastic fan thought Tarila sounded even better than MJ!
