This week Studio 53 comes to audiences from Walvis Bay in Namibia. Tune in as the M-Net lifestyle program’s presenters speak to Tanzanian business man James Sekei, profiles Guinea’s rising fashion designer Talibe Bah, explore the beautiful Sesse Islands in Uganda, savour coffee in Zambia and get to know Congolese born beauty, Joelle Kayembe only on DStv.
First stop is Tanzania where Fareed caught up with one of East Africa’s biggest DJ’s - DJ Bushbaby. Michael Owori a.k.a the Bush in Tanzania has his finger in many endeavours, but he’s primarily known for being a radio DJ and journalist. Fareed took the opportunity to talk to - Michael about his new album, his likes, dislikes and his dreams, to one day be able set up a DJ academy to help up and coming DJ’s.
Next DStv audiences are invited to West Africa, where Africans are painting the world in vibrant colour combinations and dazzling patterns. Join Studio 53’s IK, who was lucky enough to meet Talibe Bah who is one of Guinea’s leading Designers. Talibe specializes in making women’s clothing with a flair for ethnic fabrics and a passion for contemporary styles and designs. His beautiful Designs have earned him the title of being one of Guinea’s top designers.
Also in the show Tanzanian business man, James Sekei who has not only carved himself a niche in the tourism industry but is also a major player in many other fields. Tune in as James tells DStv viewers more about how he began his Travel Agency and his involvement with the African Footsteps Travel Magazine. James Sekei is part of the team that believes just like Tanzania, this magazine has something for everyone.
Next Studio 53’s Gaetano takes DStv audiences on a tour of the beautiful Sesse Islands in Uganda. His experience started with the ferry across Lake Victoria to the remote Islands. With the help of Ssese Island Guide Thomson Abraham Oboth Gaetano was able to experience the best the Island had to offer.
Next stop is Zambia, where Ndaka had an opportunity to taste the rich aroma of freshly grounded coffee from the plantations of Lusaka. Her Journey started off with stepping onto a coffee plantation just outside Lusaka, this was an experience that will give a new-found respect for the humble coffee bean. Simply understanding that it takes four to five years for one of these new plants to bear its first crop of coffee cherries, makes that cappuccino and espresso go down much better…
Tune in as David Njebele, the Coffee Technician at the Chaloshi Farm, tells DStv viewers why Zambia is so suited to the cultivation of high quality coffee. Ndaka had a chance to examine the ripe berries in a bag and then tastes one. Also hear Teija Lublinkhof, Coffee Roaster/Barista, explain the process generally as they walked through the coffee tasting process, tasting and commenting on the flavours.
Then its off to South Africa where Studio 53 went behind the scenes of the FHM men’s lifestyle magazine, which recently had Congolese born beauty, Joelle Kayembe grace their cover. Ranked 13 on FHM sexiest woman of SA this year, Joelle tells audience about her journey to stardom.
Staying in South Africa, Studio 53’s Gaetano attended the launch of a new tattoo parlour called Jaded Ink, which showcased some of the body art designed by Jade the tattoo artist. Tune in a see who Jade tattooed a piece live that evening, so that customers could see firsthand the incredible skills involved in tattooing.
