‘EL CLASICO’ LIVE THIS WEEKEND!!

April 2009

The Spanish La Liga title race, which had looked over in February when the imperious Barcelona held a 12-point lead, is still very much on ahead of what was once described by former England coach Sir Bobby Robson as the biggest club match in the world.

The rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid is legendary, dating back to the Spanish Civil War when the two clubs supported different sides, but is heightened by the fact that the duo, more often than not, are competing head-to-head for the treasured La Liga title.

The latest installment of ‘El Clásico’ is on Saturday, May 2 at the Santiago Bernabéu, when Real will attempt to close the four-point gap between the two sides at the top of the table, while a win for Barca would almost certainly sew up the title.

Real hold the edge in matches between the two, with 68 wins to Barca’s 59, but last time out in December late goals from Lionel Messi and Samuel Eto’o, a former Real player, handed Barca a precious 2-0 win.

So look out for the likes of Messi, Thierry Henry, Xavi Hernandez, Eto’o, Raul, Iker Casillas, Wesley Sneijder and Fabio Cannavaro, all live on SuperSport 7 on Saturday May 2 at 19:30 CAT on DStv.
