M-Net FACE OF AFRICA (EPISODE 11: THE REAL DEAL!

The Top 12 Face of Africa models face their toughest challenge yet on this week’s episode (Saturday 9 January at 19:00 CAT on M-Net) as they’re thrown into the deep
end of a high-fashion magazine editorial shoot and film a music video with Nigerian superstar D’Banj.
DStv audiences can tune in and watch as the safety net of Boot Camp has been removed – and the models need to show that they have what it takes to make it at the
highest level as they take part in a 14-page fashion editorial for South Africa’s Dossier magazine. Not only will they have to work under severe deadline pressure, but
they’ll also need to look their best while getting covered in paint from head to toe as part of the high-fashion concept of the shoot! One of the models learns
that sacrifices have to be made to make it in the fashion industry. Photographer and Editor Mia Ziervogel has high hopes for the Top 12 – but will they make the grade in
this world-class publication?
The models also face a second challenge – glamming it up in a high-tech music video for Nigerian hip hop star D’Banj – which premieres exclusively on this
week’s episode of Face of Africa. They’ll not only need to look good – but they need to do a little acting as well. As presenter Kaone Kario tells them, the
exposure they will gain from appearing in the video – set to be played on high rotation on music channels across the continent – is invaluable.
One of the models makes an error of judgment and learns a valuable career lesson as she is cut from the video altogether by D’Banj’s management.
What will the repercussions be for her, so close to the selection of the Top 10?
After surviving these two tough real-world challenges, the Top 12 still need to prepare for their appearance at Swahili Fashion Week. They’re also biding their time in the hope of realizing their wildest fashion dreams at the series finale in Lagos in February 2010 – but which ten models will make it that far?
The M-Net Face of Africa 2010 will walk away with a modeling contract from O Model Africa, USD 50 000 in cash from M-Net, skincare products for 12 months from Iman Cosmetics and a trip to New York, courtesy of Arise Magazine, to participate in New York Fashion Week.
