'HOPE FOR HAITI NOW' GLOBAL TELETHON LIVE ON DStv

This Saturday viewers in Africa can join a global audience raise money for ‘HOPE FOR HAITI NOW’ as DStv screens the emergency benefit concert, in response to the crisis in Haiti following the devastating earthquakes, live across the continent.

The global telethon will be aired live across the DStv bouquet on National Geographic Channel, MTV, MTV Base and VH1 on Saturday January 23, 2010.
‘HOPE FOR HAITI NOW’, the concert is a telethon partnership between MTV and George Clooney and will be broadcast live from New York and Los Angeles. The show includes performances from London, various celebrity appearances and live cross-overs to Haiti.George Clooney will be hosting in Los Angeles, Wyclef Jean hosts in New York and CNN's Anderson Cooper will be reporting from Haiti.The concert being broadcast in a two-hour telethon will air live on the following DStv channels; National Geographic Channel (channel 260), MTV (channel 321), MTV Base (channel 322) and VH1 (channel 323) on Saturday January 23 at 03:00 CAT.

Audiences can also tune in for E! Entertainment’s (channel 124) coverage at 21:30 CAT while the Style Network (channel 183 will be airing the event at 23:00 CAT.

Artists confirmed to perform include: Wyclef Jean, Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, Shakira, Madonna, Beyonce, Sting, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Dave Matthews, John Legend, Justin Timberlake, Stevie Wonder, Taylor Swift, Cold Play and group performances by Keith Urban, Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow, as well as Bono, The Edge, Jay-Z and Rihanna.Also putting in appearances are; Will Smith, Brad Pitt, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio.The relief organisations that the proceeds of the telethon will be going to are: Oxfam America, Partners in Health, the Red Cross, UNICEF, Yele Haiti Foundation, The Clinton Bush Haiti Fund and the United Nations World Food Program.
