16th ANNIVERSARY OF THE RWANDA GENOCIDE IN DAR ES SALAAM!!

The United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Rwanda cordially invites the media to the 16th anniversary of the Rwanda genocide, to be held on Wednesday 7 April 2010, at Mlimani City International Conference Hall, at 1500 hours.
The ceremony will include a walk to remember starting from New World Cinema to Mlimani City, prayers, candle lighting, statements from the UN Secretary General, the ICTR, the Rwanda Embassy and the Government, video screening, photo exhibition and poem recitals.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is expected to be the guest of honor at the ceremony.
International Day of Reflection on 1994 Rwanda genocide was mandated by the general Assembly on 23 December 2003, through resolution A/RES/58/234. The resolution declared 7th April of each year as the International Day of Reflection on the 1994 Genocide in Rwanda and encourages member states, Organizations of the UN system and other relevant international Organizations as well as civil society organizations to observe the Day, including special observance and activities in memory of the victims of genocide.
The resolution also calls upon all states to act in accordance with the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide so as to ensure that there is no repetition of events of the kind that occurred in Rwanda in
