EUROPEAN THRILLER – BAYERN VS REAL - LIVE ON SUPERSPORT!!

Two of the traditional giants of European football clash in a mouth-watering pre-season friendly as Bayern Munich host Real Madrid at the Allianz Arena on Friday, live on your World of Champions.

Bayern were double winners in Germany last season and got their new campaign off to the perfect start with a comfortable 2-0 success over Schalke in the DFB Supercup at the weekend. They are the team to beat in Germany this year, but coach Louis van Gaal will have some personal reasons to want a win in this one too.

He has previously had two spells in charge of Real’s archrivals Barcelona, and nothing would please him more than to sow the seeds of doubt in the Madrid team’s pre-season plans. Real coach Jose Mourinho has been working hard at putting his personal stamp on the Spanish side he joined in June from European champions Inter Milan.

Mourinho plotted the downfall of Bayern in the UEFA Champions League title-decider in May, and now has a quick return fixture against the side. Pre-season friendlies count for little in the greater scheme of things, but nobody wants to lose a high-profile fixture such as this one.

Pride is everything in European football and there will be no shortage of it out there at the Allianz Arena when these giants go toe-to-toe in Munich. DStv viewers can tune in for live coverage of the match on Friday August 13 (2155) on SS3, SS3A, SS3N and Maximo.

BLOOD DIAMONDS - A TRAGEDY OF HISTORIC PROPORTION!!

African and international headlines have been dominated with the trial of former Liberian President, Charles Taylor and his alleged gift of blood diamonds to supermodel Naomi Campbell.

In the 1990s, the African countries of Sierra Leone, Liberia, Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo disintegrated into civil war. Civilians were raped, murdered and attacked during the decade-long war. Collectively over 4 million civilians died.

What connected each conflict was the currency used to fund them – diamonds. HISTORY™ will provide a detailed look into the harsh reality behind the production of the world’s most valuable gems. Blood Diamonds depicts the brutality of a regime – supposedly backed by Charles Taylor – where millions of people lost their lives due to the conflicts over blood diamonds.

As citizens in four African warzones suffered, diamonds from those countries flowed freely into the world’s diamond market. Diamonds are the world’s most precious gems, but in West and Central Africa, their cost has been greater than anyone could have ever imagined.

Tune in to watch BLOOD DIAMONDS on the History Channel (DStv channel 254) on Saturday August 14 at 21.30.

BIG BROTHER ALL STARS MUNYA OR TATIANA – AFRICA MUST DECIDE!

Zimbabwe’s Munya and Angola’s Tatiana are up for eviction this week after Monday night’s (9 August) nominations on M-Net’s Big Brother All Stars. Munya finds himself up for eviction for the second week in a row after Sheila saved herself and put him up for eviction in her place.

Head of House Sheila found herself up for eviction after receiving the bulk of nominations from her housemates, based on the fact that she could save herself. · Code nominated Yacob, because as he says "I can't trust him and I can't place him yet". His second nomination went to Sheila. ·

Jennifer nominated Uti and Meryl because she feels they have formed an alliance, which concerns her.

· Kaone nominated Sheila and Meryl – the former because she could save herself. · Meryl nominated Kaone because he "gets on my last nerve” and also because she feels he is judgmental. She also nominated Tatiana because she considers her to be strong competition but pointed out that "it has nothing to do with Lerato, I just don't want her around for too long".

· Munya kept his nominations going along the same lines he has stuck to every week – “strictly business”. He nominated Uti and Yacob, explaining "I'm starting from the top of Africa and moving down”. ·

Paloma nominated Sheila because she could save herself and Uti because she felt his jokes had gone overboard and he is hurting people “and this is getting out of hand”.

· Mwisho nominated Tatiana because he thought everyone would be thinking along the same lines after both her Head of House decisions had seen the people she replaced herself, with evicted from the house. He also named Kaone because "the game has shifted” - he feels he needs to pick a side and take a gamble and Kaone is not on the side he has picked.
