Community Shield LIVE on SuperSport!!

Community Shield

SuperSport is delighted to announce that it has acquired the rights to broadcast Sunday’s FA Community Shield match across the continent on DStv. A deal was reached at the 13th hour, confirming the World of Champions as the ultimate home of football lovers.
The match features Premiership champions Manchester United against FA Cup winners Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, marking the official start of the new season.
This age-old tradition has been given added spice in the face of recent rivalry between the two clubs, with Chelsea challenging United's dominance by winning two Premier League titles on the bounce, before the Red Devils restored order and took the next three.
The effects of their markedly differing fortunes, in what has been a recession-hit transfer season outrageously skewed by the big-spending of Real Madrid and Manchester City, will also come in for scrutiny on Sunday.
United have lost two influential players in free-scoring Cristiano Ronaldo and the buzzing Carlos Tevez, both to the big-spenders. Michael Owen, Antonio Valencia and Gabriel Obertan have come in as replacements.
Chelsea may not have signed significantly outside of Yuri Zhirkov, but their squad looks decidedly stronger and their pre-season form suggests that they will be in the forefront of the title chase this season.
The statistics, however, paint a different picture. United have won three of the last six Shields for a lifetime total of 17, the most wins by any club.
Chelsea have been on the receiving end of one of those recent losses, going down on penalties to the Red Devils in 2007. Ten years earlier, the Blues also lost to United on penalties, and have only ever won three Shields in comparison to United.
New boss Carlo Ancellotti is determined to foster a winning mentality in the squad and Sunday's Community Shield will be the perfect place to start.
Audiences can catch all the live action on SuperSport 3 and Maximo from 16:00 CAT with repeats on Monday (from 21:00 CAT), Tuesday (from 10:30 CAT) and August 15 (from 02:30 CAT) all on SuperSport 3.
The rest of the football season will be packed with action starting with the FA Premier League on August 15.
This will be followed by UEFA Champions League action starting on August 18, Italian Serie A from August 22 and the Spanish La Liga on August 29.
This is all apart from the African Domestic league action and the popular club TV shows.
